Em um cenário de globalização, com os países cada vez mais unidos em trocas linguísticas, comerciais, econômicas, migratórias, religiosas e políticas, dentre outras, o fator linguístico ganha destaque inconteste. Nesse sentido, pensar em políticas linguísticas que façam da língua portuguesa uma língua de maior projeção internacional é fundamental para os países lusófonos. Nosso objetivo, portanto, é o de discutir políticas linguísticas e aspectos da promoção, projeção e difusão da língua portuguesa no mundo em seus mais variados
contextos.

ABIL - Association of British and Irish Lusitanists
The Association of British and Irish Lusitanists aims to promote and encourage scholarly research and teaching in Great Britain and Ireland into the study of the languages and cultures of the Portuguese-speaking world. ABIL provides a forum for the discussion and elaboration of these aims by members, acting to secure the support of governments and other appropriate agencies and institutions for those activities, and to promote the widest possible awareness of their cultural, educational and vocational importance.
Anglo-Portuguese Society
On the 19th May 1938 a prominent group of businessmen, with interests in Portugal and Portuguese Africa, hosted a dinner in honour for the recently appointed Portuguese Ambassador, Dr. Armindo Monteiro, at the Dorchester Hotel. This dinner was attended by over 300 people, and it was agreed that something more tangible should be established to reflect the unique relationship in between Britain and Portugal.
Thus, on 20th July 1938, with the help of a generous grant from the Government of Portugal, the Anglo-Portuguese Society was formally constituted as a charitable body at the Casa de Portugal in Lower Regent Street, London. Dr Armindo Monteiro agreed to be its first President, and since then every Portuguese Ambassador to London has been invited to be the President of the Society.
